EWS access for Kiosk and Frontline users will be restricted
Microsoft has announced an important change to Exchange Web Services (EWS) that affects organizations using Kiosk or Frontline Worker licenses (F1 and F3).
Starting June 30, 2026, EWS access will be restricted for these license types. As a result, users assigned Kiosk, F1, or F3 licenses will no longer be able to access Exchange Web Services.
What does this mean for your organization?
-
If you are using Exchange Online, please review the license assigned to the piaX synchronization user, as a valid Exchange Online license is required for synchronization to function properly.
-
If the synchronization user is currently assigned an Exchange Online Kiosk, F1, or F3 license, this license must be replaced with one of the following:
-
Exchange Online Plan 1 or Plan 2
-
Microsoft 365 / Office 365 E3 or E5
-
Our recommendation
-
Review your current license assignments as soon as possible and plan any necessary changes early to avoid interruptions to piaX operations.
